This is why I enjoy working in the middle of the woods all summer... well kind of. :) I love working with my friends...and the campers too! This is a youtube clip from a camper...I actually recognize the kids in this clip, too. The kids are just showing what fun they had...and us adults have this much fun too, just in a more responsible kind of way. Haha. LOL So here are some you tube clips I found that remind me of my summer love, good old Blue Lake.
And this is a manifestation of what happens when females get in a room by themselves and make decisions! :) We were having an all female meeting during orientation, mostly to discuss how to deal with girl situations...like periods and the such. LOL. Then one of the UDs, went off on this tangent about how they hated how the guys all had their stupid "1! 2! 3! MEN!" cheer that they insist on doing before every camper dance... and then my boss Heidi said something about we should pick our own "female" cheer...and then my friend Nichole mentioned how the previous summer our unit had the "Promenade Pirates! Arrgg!" cheer. :) Well, needless to say, it was a hit, and we started yelling "ARRGG!" to guys. The guys had no idea what the hell we were yelling "ARRGG!" for. Well, anyhow, in said meeting, Heidi decided and declared that Saturdays were going to be "Pirate Saturday" at Blue Lake from then on out. It went from a silly joke to being all out a serious event, and you were expected to have on some form of pirate gear on Saturday...and encourage your campers to yell "ARRGG!" to unsuspecting victims. Well, Heidi got so excited about it she even "published" a Pirate Speakin' Handbook, for all the units, so we could get educated on proper Pirate Slang. Which of course manifested itself into "Pirate Speakin Contest" held at rec hour, on the Bandstand, on Pirate Saturdays. LOL This is a You Tube clip of kids going at it, doing their best Pirate expressions. My friend Nick is announcing the kids :)
