I haven't blogged in a week! Where the time goes, I don't know. Hmm where to start?
Okay, I'll start with my camp weekend. Overall, it wasn't that bad. For some reason, right up to it I was completely dreading it. The thought of having an almost 3 hour car drive was not making me overly excited. If I had known then that I would hit two stand stills of traffic, I would have dreaded it even more! Damn construction. It most definitely took me over 3 hours to get to camp, and by that time I was really ready to get out of the car.
I stayed in the "Conductor's Cabin" in Camp Bernie. For the first night I was by myself until the other girl who was getting certified came. It wasn't that bad, and it actually didn't freak me out to sleep there by myself like I thought it would. It was probably because I knew that the IYSO kids and their parents were all around me in their own cabins. The only bad part was that for the entire weekend, we had nothing but cold water. Actually, cold makes it seem tolerable. It was ICY. Apparently something went wrong with the water heater. When I told Jenn, she called Maintenance, but they said it needed a part that they had to order and it wouldn't be in for a few days... needless to say I brushed my teeth and washed my face is freezing cold water for the weekend. I most definitely didn't shower! But really, that was just practice for the summer. Anyone who has worked at the camp knows that after pulling somewhere around 15 to 20 hour days at times, sometimes showering just isn't in the plan for the day.
After all that studying to get certified, our weekend was extremely easy! I was slightly annoyed by how much I studied for such a simple weekend. In Jenn's defense, it was pretty hard to teach us things like backboarding with only two people. But still, I think it would have been great to run more scenarios. We basically ran two. I "learned" how to take a blood pressure. I say it with the quote marks because I didn't really feel very confident in my skills. The first little thump is very hard to hear! LOL the camp director, Heidi even let us use her as a victim. She was a really good sport letting me and Trisha take her blood pressure three times, and count her breathing two or three times. LOL That was something else we had issues doing, counting breaths and pulse at the same time. Especially since Jenn told us we had to pretend to be doing something else. For the love of God, I'm just learning how to do this, and I'm not only supposed to keep pulse and breaths at the same time, but I'm supposed to pretend to not be doing this at the same time? Um, yeah.
Jenn was very nice and took me and Trisha out for a great dinner, where we ate pretty much everything in sight, including sharing three massive desserts. Jenn shared a lot about herself over this past weekend, and it made me think some things about working with her. I figure that overall, I'll be able to handle it. But I do see some key areas where she is a control freak (such as when I suggested that the Health Staff not work the same exact schedule for every single session... wow did that hit a nerve! It was especially humorous because she had just mentioned that a returning health staff member had suggested the same thing I had. Control freak, much?) I also see some areas where she is extremely insecure. Such as me and Trisha having a conversation about someone else, and Jenn, who was a part of the conversation, on more than one occasion said "Are you talking about me?" Um, interesting. We shall see how this all works out.

Besides for the weekend, which turned out to be fantastic weather, things have been pretty laid back. There has been virtually no work every time I call the Subfinder line, so I've had the past couple of days off. On Monday, my study partners and I turned in our last Biochem exam. That thankfully, is one less weight on my shoulder. I've got my last choir concert of the season on Saturday, so everything really is wrapping up. I'll just have the month of May to work, and then I'll be going to camp. Slightly freaky!
I started my 21 day challenge yesterday! So far, so good. I exercised at the gym, and I went to bed at midnight. I plan to do some pilates this afternoon, and hopefully get to bed again by midnight. The exercising everyday thing seems like it will be easy to conquer, but going to bed at a decent hour is definitely more challenging! But I guess that is the whole point of the 21 day challenge, to actually challenge one's self.
That's about all I've got, I'll keep you all updated on my challenge!
