If you are chilly...

My blog is pretty late today! I really need to take the time to blog now, because I have choir rehearsal tonight in little over an hour. We (as in the women of the choir) along with the Flint Youth Chorus, are performing the fifth movement of Mahler's 3rd Symphony. I'm not exactly the biggest Mahler fan, so honestly, I could care less about this performance. My German is a good indication about how much care and effort I'm putting in to this. I feel slightly guilty to have absolutely no interest in practicing my German, or practicing the piece. If I ever want to be a truly good musician, shouldn't I take care to practice, even if it is a piece that I don't particularly care for?

Ahh. My attitude of right now is clearly WHATEVER. Rehearsal tonight, rehearsal tomorrow afternoon, perform it tomorrow night, and then it's done, and hopefully I'll never sing it again in life. I'm ready to get to the bubbly, happy, not too much thought involved Christmas music for the Holiday Pops. I just want to sing Jingle Bells and the Chorus of the Bells. Mahler is sucking the life out of what little enthusiasm I have. Well, seeing as I'll have more rehearsal on Monday as well, I guess I won't have very long to wait for the Christmas stuff. Especially seeing as the big city Holiday Pops concert is in about a month, which equals about four rehearsals... we must be getting the music soon enough.

******
Sorry I seem slightly whiny or possibly bitchy. I have been having mild headaches and stuffy nose, but yet I don't feel sick at all. So either this is just my sinuses overreacting to the change in weather, or I've got a minor cold virus that my body is doing a good job of fighting off. On to happier news. I did some shopping today, and that always makes me happy.

First my mother and I went to the grocery store. That wasn't exciting at all, unless you count our lively chat about MRSA infections with a store employee. We went to Target after grocery shopping, and I love Target. :) I swear, I don't think I've ever walked in to a Target and not bought something. I didn't really buy anything exciting, but I still love shopping at Target. I got some medicated Chapstick (my lips get sooo dry this time of year), pocket tissues for my purse (as I went through my purse yesterday I realized I didn't have any tissues), a flosser (I have this thing about flossing my teeth lately), mini Christmas lights for my mini tinsel tree ($2, how could I not buy them???), and some Hello Kitty puffy stickers (I would explain that, but who doesn't think Hello Kitty puffy stickers aren't awesome??). I was thinking of getting a new scarf and hat, but my mom was getting antsy, which means she was driving me nuts.

After dropping my mom off at home, I went to Old Navy. I really wanted one of their $70 cashmere sweaters and a new peacoat, but I resisted. I was very proud of myself for resisting the temptation of a soft new sweater, and pretty coat to match. I could buy 20 new sweaters and coats, and still not believe I have enough. I hate winter weather, but love winter fashion. Anyhow, I did spend almost $40 buying a new scarf, two pairs of gloves, and a wool beret. (Yes, I am trying to pull off wearing a beret this year. For some reason, I have always been able to pull off random hair fashions quite well. I can wear scarves and headbands and other random hair accessories without looking like a total idiot, so my friends tell me. So I am hoping this will transfer to a pretty cream wool beret. And quite possibly, I saw pictures of an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl where one of the actresses was wearing a beret and I figured I must have one for this winter season! Errr, pretend I didn't just admit to watching Gossip Girl.)

Here are some pictures of what I bought. Unfortunately, Old Navy's website does not have a photo of the beret I bought. I also bought a pair of red fleece gloves in the same style as the gloves in this photo.

I have this really nice cream colored wool coat that is knee length. I thought these gloves and scarf would be a really cute way to add to the coat. The beret is for the times where I want to dress it up a little bit. :)

Well, that's all I got for you guys today. I need to go eat some dinner, and then get ready for rehearsal. I can't believe tomorrow is already Saturday!
