I should be working on my take home midterm right now, but I'm being lazy. I haven't been able to get good sleep in days, and today I'm super tired and not in the mood to sit and pour myself over Epidemiology. After I finish this blog, I plan to eat some lunch, finally crack open my Epi book for like an hour, and then take a nice hour long nap from 3 to 4. Hopefully at that point I'll be feeling a bit refreshed, because at 5ish I plan on leaving to meet my sister at her apartment. We're going to dinner, and then on to the New Kids on the Block concert!!!
Yeah... it's cheesy, it's ridiculous, it's childish... but I can't wait! It's going to be a blast. The Spice Girls concert was so much fun, and hopefully the nostalgia will give us just as great of an experience this time around as well. I can't lie, I never quite got over my crush on Jordan when I was eight years old. :) If I still had one of those dinner plate sized buttons, I'd totally be wearing it tonight!

On a side note, I don't know what has gotten in to me as of late! Boldness has never been my strong point, and yet... I seem to be getting better and better at it. That guy I was talking about in my last blog... I was so right about him thinking our flat and stale conversation had went somewhere. He messaged me again last night, and wow... what a bible thumper! He was clearly trying to save my little heathen soul. The only reason I didn't get snotty with him is because I knew his heart was in the right place... but I did block him from my messenger!
The boldness of this comes in because while I was talking to him, I was also talking to a friend who I at one point in life had a crush on (still have a crush on?). While the bible guy was driving nuts, my annoyance gave me enough braveness to openly admit to my friend that I had a crush on him! As soon as I sent it (without giving it much thought when I clicked "send") I thought to myself "OH MY GOD WHAT DID I JUST SAY?" Ha. In the end it wasn't such a big deal... actually I can't believe I didn't do it sooner. His response was mostly "awwwwwww." There were some other topics that came up after my revelation... but I'll keep that for me. ;)

Finally, I sat down with my advisor yesterday, in an attempt to plot out next semester. She asked me to be her research assistant for either the spring or fall! That is totally cool and will look awesome on my resume! It would include working at the school's Urban Health and Wellness Center, which is actually a clinic open to the public. I'd help to run a study and interview people using the Center's services. And, she also mentioned to me a possible job! She said that the University is working with the Flint Community Schools to create a health and wellness program for students, and that they specifically want a grad student to work with the program coordinator.
She said it is a two year grant, it would pay $30,000 a year, plus full benefits, and TUITION REIMBURSEMENT. It would look great on my resume and it would be coming to a close just as I'd be ready to be looking for a more permanent job. I think my jaw about hit the floor. She said since I have such an interest in children, plus I already work in the Flint schools, she had submitted my name to the chair of the department as a possible candidate. How awesome is that? Plus, if I got this job, it would waive the internship I need to do, and to top it off, she thinks I could still work at Blue Lake during the summer.
I'm not trying to count my chickens before they hatch... but the possibilities are suddenly making me a little dizzy. It's like just a year ago I was coming out of a really dark period of my life, and suddenly it seems like everything is falling in to place for me. It's kind of stunning, and seems too good to be true. Even if I don't land this job, just the fact that it's a possibility makes me feel very lucky.

I know three people going to see NKOTB!! I'm seriously jealous. I don't know why I didn't think to get tickets?? Well, my sister probably would of been annoyed with it. Although she went with me and group of others back in the '90's. I totally adored Jonathan. In fact, my childhood diary clearly says that about ten thousand times. lol!
Have fun tonight!! :D
And fingers crossed for the intern job! That sounds like a fantastic opportunity. And the pay/benefits aren't too shabby either! -
