Insert Roll Eyes Here

Ah... it's funny the drama that can occur over a few days time! I can't even give a good introduction, I need to just dive on in.

Okay, so first off, I have an OKCupid profile. I'm not really sure how I feel about online dating... I mean it seems like it could be beneficial in theory, but most of the guys who send me messages just seem... off. I mean, not off in a freakish kind of way (well, there are definitely lots of those...) but off in an incredibly socially awkward kind of way. Anyhow, the profile honestly wasn't even set up for dating, I just enjoyed doing online quizzes.

Well, amongst the throw away emails from a few guys here and there, there was actually a stand out email the other day. A guy who actually seemed really nice, college graduate, semi-attractive, and interesting enough. So I found myself slightly excited. Could it be? An actual decent catch? A possible date for a lonely Friday night?

Yeah... not so fast. So I talked to said guy online last night... and it just sunk like cement at the bottom of the ocean. Nice enough guy I suppose, but it was just... flat. And holy horror of grammar, batman! Now I'm clearly not the most eloquent person... but geez! Why is it that people find it so hard to write with decent grammar? I mean if you can string along a sentence verbally, why can't you write one out? Grammar was strike one. Strike two was him telling me that Flint is a "scary" place... compared to his glamorous surroundings of inner-city DETROIT. Yes, Flint is hardly in the top ten of best places in the world to live, but seriously? There is no ghetto like the ghetto of Detroit, and you're telling me where I live is "scary"? Strike three was him telling me he was "highly allergic" to dogs. I'm sorry, maybe it sounds foolish, but I love my dogs too much to ever consider dating someone who couldn't be around them.

So that is D.O.A. The worst part is that I think he thought I was really awesome, like we really might go out sometime. Geez.

And on to my second boy drama of the week. I went to the gym today after class. The most annoying part of the gym is that if you want to weigh yourself, you have to do it on this big scale that is sitting directly outside the locker rooms. A long time ago there used to be a scale in the women's locker room... but they must have chunked it when they bought this industrial sized thing. (Seriously, I think you could weigh an elephant on it!). So, I figured I'll weigh myself once a week to just keep track of my progress... you know, I don't want to be obsessed with my weight, right? Anyhoo... as I went out to weigh myself, I stood still because I was wanting the scale to even itself out. (Gained yet another pound, boo!) As I was standing there, this douchy guy (I can't think of anything nicer to call him) comes up behind me and says "What's it say?"

In which of course, I thought I must have misheard him.

"Um, pardon?"
"What's it say?"
(Me comprehending what he just said, and immediately getting pissy.) "And what makes you think that's any of your business?"
"You were just looking at it kind of hard... that's all."
"Wow, again, why is this your business?"
"Well, I just thought you might want some training."
"I'm sorry, do you work here or something?"
"Nah... I just like to help out beautiful girls in all areas of their fitness."
(Me, super pissed) "Wow, yeah, NO."

Seriously? Seriously... as my friend said when I told him this story "That guy must have had brass balls." What the hell makes a guy think that they can come up to you, be completely and utterly rude, and that somehow you're going to find them endearing and give them your phone number? I mean... ah! Men make me want to scream with their stupidity sometimes.

I swear, if it wasn't for the whole catholic thing, being a nun would be incredibly appealing.

What?? Some random guy at the gym said that to you?! I'm glad you snapped at him. Idiot.

As for the online dating thing, there are a a lot of creeps out there but some people find good ones. That's how Loke/Missy found her hubby! Keep trying, but don't waste your time on the weirdos!

It's so funny you mention the online dating thing, I was thinking about starting an account up somewhere again. However, having to weed through all the "duds" makes me thoroughly exhausted! And I agree with you on the pet thing, I would never give up my cats for some guy. If that makes me a freaky cat lady, then that's what I am!

And wow?! The dude at the gym? I would of had to hold back from smacking him upside his head. I could go off on a tangent about men. They have no freakin' class anymore! Ugh.

But, on the flip side... I am confident the right man will come along to you! :-)
