The Blahs

Blah! This has been the week of the blahs, let me tell you! I mentioned in my previous post that I felt like I had been fighting something off... yeah. Ha, so much for fighting it off! Let's see, it was last Tuesday, as in the 8th of December when I started feeling strange. I was oddly dizzy, and my throat was slightly scratchy. But other than that, no big symptoms of getting a cold. I took some vitamins hoping that if I was getting something, my body would kick it right back out. That has been how it goes as of lately, I feel slightly like I'm coming down with something, take some vitamins or Zicam, and by the next day I feel completely normal again.

Not this time. :( On Sunday I woke up with a full blown cold, after what seemed like little warning. I felt pretty fine on Saturday, so to wake up on Sunday feeling like I had been hit by a bulldozer was a little surprising. And my throat... ah my right tonsil was super swollen and it hurt everytime I swallowed. I pretty much spent the entire day sleeping on Sunday. I really thought by Tuesday I'd be feeling fine! I felt okay on Tuesday, but I think my physical therapy session was just a little too much for me. Which was surprising because it only included doing some pretty relaxing stretches! The most tiring thing I did was a slow paced lay-back exercise bike for five minutes! By the time I made it to my final exam at 7pm, my throat was killing me all over again.

So yesterday I had another physical therapy session, and seeing as it was Thursday, I figured no need to cancel, I'm pretty much over this bug, right? Haha, wrong. This workout was more intense (although it didn't include any aerobic exercise), and it left me feeling like complete and utter poop! There was another four letter word there, but I thought I'd be nice and filter my thoughts today. :) My throat was killing me once again, and my head felt like someone was hitting it with a hammer. I finally declared defeat, and called the doctor, who immediately called me out a week's worth of amoxicillin. Thankfully Bernadette took mercy on my soul and cooked dinner for the both of us, then we watched the movie Precious. If I wasn't so out of it, I would have been sobbing, because that movie is intense! If it doesn't win a golden globe, I'll be shocked. And you might be wondering how it is we were watching it in the comfort of our own living room... well, Bernadette's brother apparently knows some file sharing site where he can download movies that are currently in the theatre... I think that's a little over the top myself, however, if Bernadette already has the DVD is there harm in me watching it? She was going to watch it with or without me.

And I still feel pretty crappy, but somewhat better than yesterday. The spots on my tonsil still remain. :(

Anyhow, today, my calves... ow!!! My physical therapist thinks a tight calf muscle is partially to blame for the numbness in my leg... so he worked the crap out of my calves yesterday. To the point where when I got out of bed this morning, I literally had to hobble to the bathroom. Ah... and, my gramma is in the hospital. Which makes me feel like a jerk complaining about being sick. My aunts took her to the hospital because her bronchitis was so bad.... but the doc kept her because of her kidneys doing so horribly. They thought she might also have congestive heart failure, but apparently have changed their minds on that diagnosis. It looks like she actually won't have to get dialysis, at least not yet, but we're not sure if she'll be out before Christmas. :( She's at a hospital literally five minutes away from here, but I can't visit because I'm sick. And the worst part, the whole time she's been in the hospital, she keeps asking about how I'm feeling. I love my gramma so much, I hope she's able to go home feeling healthy.

Well... that's my life this past week. I haven't been able to work at all, so I'm a little concerned about money being tight in January. And I have a final project I need to find the energy to work on... and ah, I haven't even finished all of my Christmas shopping. And my friend wants me to come over tonight to watch The Hangover. We'll see how I feel.

Aww... I hope you feel better soon! Is it strep throat? It sounds like it. That is so incredibly painful!! I had it last year on Thanksgiving {and I worked the parade}. I thought I was going to die. The antibiotics should be kicking some butt by now!

I don't mean to laugh at your physical therapy story, but I am. My sister Jayme was a tech at a PT place for ten years. They do indeed make it a painful experience! She has even said that. lol! Every once in a while I'll have her give my neck a massage because I get knots. She presses SO hard with her thumbs that I literally am screaming the entire time. It works though!

I hope your Gramma will be home in time for x-mas. And I DEFINITELY hope she doesn't have to go on dialysis!

I sipped limoncello the last time I had a sore throat and found it helpful--it works, one way or another. . . ;) Pretty sure it doesn't go with amox, though.

I hope you're feeling better soon.
