My Birthday Fun

Oh, I've been a neglectful blogger I guess! I was having a problem similar to Robin, that being, I would come here to my blog with an intent to blog, and yet, nothing of substance wanted to come out.

I still feel that way now, but I figured I could leave it up to my few readers as to whether or not there is anything of substance!

Okay so my birthday. It was a lot of fun! We went to this great, trendy restaurant downtown called Blackstone's, and had a great dinner. All of my "girls" came, and a few of my friends from school came, too. So it was great to be at a table full of all my good friends just laughing and talking and having great food. I sat in the middle of the table (after getting in an argument with my sister about how she felt I should sit at the head of the table), and was able to talk to everyone sitting around me. There were pool tables too, so that was fun.

My friends bought all my drinks... which was great except it meant I was getting tipsy at an alarming rate. :) My sister thought it would be a good joke to insist I do a Jagerbomb... and after all my friends started shouting "Jager! Jager!", a Jagerbomb magically appeared in front of me. Well, I had no desire to actually do one, haha but since everyone was taunting me, I definitely had my first ever Jagerbomb. And it tasted like cough syrup. And it definitely made walking in a straight line a challenge! And come to find out, the table next to us were the ones who sent me over the Jagerbomb for my birthday.

So yes... that would have been a good place to stop, but oh no, we decided to make our way over to the 501 Bar and Grill across the street where we had pineapple upside down cake martinis. And there was a guitar player who was actually decent (even in my drunken state I am critical of other musicians, haha) and as it was my birthday, he started taking requests from me and my friends. Somewhere along the line we all started singing Sweet Home Alabama... or maybe that was just me, haha, but it was super fun.

And you would have thought with all of that I would have come in around 2am, but no... Bernadette, my sister, and I made it back to our apartment at the wee hour of 11:30pm. Why? Well, we've decided we're all getting too damn old with work and school... and we're all rather pathetic when we start yawning at 11pm. But we also wanted to watch the last episode of Conan, so that was fun, except I remember little of it due to my slight level of intoxication. :) I do remember telling everyone that Conan's funniest skit was the one where he ended up going to Denmark or the Netherlands or somewhere because he looked so much like their female president (only I couldn't quite remember the word "president" so I kept saying the "Principal of Sweden or Holland or one of those cold places where all the people are super pale and skinny and blonde and white." Hahaha.)

There was a point during all of this when I really thought I was going to puke, and somehow didn't let on to how I felt to Bernadette, Tiffany, or Cedric. (Cedric is Bernadette's kinda sorta boyfriend who came over to watch Conan with us). I did find myself in my bathroom, texting my friend Melanie, telling her I wanted to puke, but I wasn't sure I was stable enough to take aim at the toilet. LOL Wow. But the moment passed, and I was fine, but then the urge came back a few more times... apparently. I only remember the one time, but Melanie and Jenn and my friend Kelly said I was texting them some very humorous things, and apparently I told them all about three or more times I thought I might possibly barf.

After all of that, I woke up in the morning feeling fine! No hangover, just groggy from not getting enough sleep. To top that off, the first thing I did when I got up was make a huge breakfast of grits, sausage, eggs, and biscuits. Haha Bernadette thought I was crazy. But hey, a girl's gotta eat!

So that is the story of my super fun 28th birthday. After the ridiculousness that was last year, I felt I was entitled to having a blast for my birthday. Things since then have been kind of interesting, and I'll blog about that later, but I thought you guys would like to hear about my birthday party. I can post pics just as soon as I can find the stupid connector cord for my camera to upload pics onto my computer.

Your birthday sounds like fun! The sentence "Principal of Sweden or Holland or one of those cold places where all the people are super pale and skinny and blonde and white." made me lol!
