2008: Year In Review, Part 2

8:01 PM

Oh 2008, it's been a heck of a year! I'm headed to my friend Andrea's big family and friends New Year's Eve party... haven't done that since I was a sophomore in college! It will definitely be a crazy night, that's for sure! Much different than last year's quiet New Year's Eve.

I've been thinking a lot about the past year. I accomplished so much, and overall I can truly say I am much happier than I was this time last year. There are a couple of regrets, but other than that, I'm feeling quite well about the past year. Life seems to be on the upswing, and I want to enjoy it for as long as it lasts.

There are some things I'd like to work really hard at letting go for next year! My still lingering passive aggressive tendencies (I've made steps in the right direction... but it's a hard thing to overcome!), times where I've slacked, doing little things that have made me feel anxious... all things I'd like to get rid of! I did a little symbolic moment of shedding these things tonight, by writing them on paper and then burning the paper... kind of like burning the bridge I guess.

Overall, the year has been full of ups and downs, and lots of adventures! I'm excited to see what the new year will bring. If it is anything like 2008 was, then I better get excited for a bumpy, but thrilling ride. Happy New Year 2009 everyone! (And happy early birthday to my mommy who turns 47 on January 1st!).

My top 10 list of music played on my iPod this past year...

10. Only Heart - John Mayer (Heavier Things) I clearly love this song... seeing as this album is more than a few years old and this song still made it to my top 10 playlist!

9. Dear Prudence - The Beatles (Not sure which album, possibly the White Album?) This is my favorite Beatles song of all time... I can't explain how awesome this song is.

8. Let's Hear It For The Boy (Footloose Soundtrack)- I'm a sucker for 80's tracks that remind me of being a little kid.

7. Reflections - Diana Ross and the Supremes. (No idea what album) I LOVE motown... it's just awesome. This is my favorite of all motown songs.

6. Killing Me Softly - The Fugees (The Score)- Love this song! Lauryn Hill managed to do a cover better than the original.

5. Tears Dry On Their Own - Amy Winehouse (Back to Black) - Amy Winehouse is a trainwreck, but her music is actually pretty good! I like the neo-soul/blues thing that is happening right now.

4. Slow Dancing in a Burning Room - John Mayer (Continuum) - The guitar chords in this song are so awesome... makes me wish I knew how to play!

3. Feelings Show - Colbie Callat (Coco)- It's just a light and airy song... very summery.

2. Lesson Learned - Alicia Keys featuring John Mayer. It starts out as this sad song, but becomes this triumphant ballad... so good. And again, John Mayer's guitar skills are pretty sweet.

1. Last Kiss - Mariah Carey (E=MC2) - I have no shame in my love for Mariah Carey! It's a good song off her new album, makes you want to hit repeat after you hear it.

Well there you go kids... I didn't include more than one song off of any album... because at that point it was becoming a bit redundant.

I can't wait for a new year of new music!
