Saturday 9

Sorry if my blogs have been a little boring lately! Like I said, NaBloPoMo was going to be a bit of a stretch for me this time around!

I never got out of my pajamas today, but I have been busy! I spent almost an hour shredding more things... old credit card apps, bank statements, letters from school that had personal info on it, etc. Which reminds me, we should invest in a paper shredder for our apartment... can't just throw stuff out like that with identity theft as common as it is now! I also filled up a large bag of trash (I suspect I will fill up another one before this week is over), all of which came from my closet! I filled two more boxes of stuff, which now takes me to box 13... and I packed away all my extra pjs. I made sure to leave out enough plus a spare pair for the remainder of this week. This is like camp packing on steroids! My mom came in my room today to tell me how much "crap" I own, and also drive me nuts about the paper I'm supposed to be working on.

Which... ah that stupid freaking paper! My thesis concept paper. I felt pretty good about where I was headed with my thesis, and now my professor started suggesting I change it all! And I almost let her talk me in to it, and I probably would have went along with it... but I just hit a wall. A huge writers block, and I couldn't find any articles that were interesting me in the slightest. So in the eleventh hour so to speak, I've went back to my original topic. She wants the concept paper emailed to her Monday. So I took a research proposal I wrote last year, copied and pasted the lit review and introduction, and now I'm just going to add a couple of new pages. I'll add a couple new references, and boom, that's what she's getting. If she doesn't like it, I'm sure she'll let me know, but tough cookies at this point!

Saturday 9: Lie to Me


1. Can you tell when someone is lying to you?

Usually I think I can, but I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. So while I might highly suspect they are lying to me (i.e. Scott), I try to believe them until I can actually catch them in a lie. My sister, as much as I love her, could lie to the Pope with a straight face, so I feel like overall, I can sniff out a good lie!
2. Tell us about one of your flaws. Do you live with it or try to correct it?

I'm really, really, really stubborn! If I think I'm in the right on something, there is nothing that will sway me. Usually, honestly I think this works well for me! I'm glad I stand strong to my convictions. But on the other hand, there are times when I know it's time for me to give up or listen to another person's critique, and instead I'll dig my heels in to the ground and refuse to budge. Like I said, it has served me well in life, but it has also made me have to humbly apologize when I finally relax and look at the situation from a different perspective.

3. When was the last time you laughed hard and what struck you as funny?

The last time I laughed hard was last night when I was out with the girls from school. Now it could have been the alcohol that made everything seem funny, but we laughed hard over one of our professors. He's the nicest man alive, but we all suspect he might be smoking weed! Seriously, he is never quite there! What made us laugh the hardest was when I told them that he accidentally let it slip to me that another professor was pregnant, when she hadn't told a soul besides him! Yeah, that was an awkward moment in September!
4. Tell us about a time when you should have tried harder.

Oh... my whole undergrad career was a moment in life when I should have tried harder! But looking back, if I could do it over again, I would have changed my major and not put so much damn pressure on myself. I really wasn't happy being pre-med, and I struggled so much with trying to motivate myself. The thought of med school terrified me, and not because of the work, but because I knew in my heart I didn't want it. If I could have done it over, I would have been a music major, with a minor in Biology.
5. If you won the lottery, what would you buy first?

A new car! Well, I guess it depends on how much money I won... but a new shiny set of wheels would be sweet.
6. What movie do you know every word to?
Anne of Green Gables... for serious, I really believe I know every word... Ah damn, my Anne DVDs are all packed away... poo! I need an Anne fix!
7. What was the best thing that happened to you this week?

Whether I realized it in the moment... breaking up with Scott. I keep thinking about what would have happened if we got even more serious and involved, and then he pulled this crap with me... I would have been devastated.
8. What was the worst thing that happened to you this week?

See above. While yes, it was the best thing, damn.
9. What do you think is the biggest difference between men and women?

Women listen more to their hearts... men don't seem to think or use logic at all.
