2009 in Review

I'm going to be ringing in the New Year in Muskegon, and since it's almost a 3 hour drive, I thought I should probably post this this morning, because I don't want to forget. 2009 was well, a hell of a year, full of either really great highs, or really low disappointments. But either way, it definitely helped me grow as a person. I honestly can't believe how much I've accomplished in one year, and how my life has changed from this time last year to now.

Here is my 2009 recap, with some things obmitted... either because I don't remember or because there are some things that are so personal (good and bad) that I would like to keep to myself.

January
  • Rang in the New Year with the girls, had a lot of fun
  • My friend/boss Jenn asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding
  • I went to the Presidental Inauguration in Washington D.C. on a whim, but had the experience of a lifetime!
  • Turned 27, had a fun and relaxed dinner/movie date with the girls
  • Had a blast at the Michigan/Northwestern basketball game with my Daddy
  • Got pulled in to the DRAMA that occured when Jenn broke up with her fiance
February
  • I did a "FeBloPoMo" in an attempt to keep my creative juices going
  • Started trying to appreciate wine with my friends... still working on that!
  • Did not have a Valentine... again, but for some reason this year I wasn't quite okay with that
March
  • Survived winter midterms
  • Started seriously pondering PhD programs
  • Did a big presentation for Cultural Competency week at school
April
  • Went to the Genesee County Health Department Conference and learned a bit about how to present, and became really good friends with my friend Mary in the process
  • Dealt with the crazy woman at the Red Cross yet again for CPR recertification
  • Went on my first date with Scott
May
  • Went to Chicago for a couple of days, had a blast
  • Got very confused by my new feelings for Scott/old feelings for my ex- /good friend D
  • Went to my 6th May Weekend at camp
June
  • Offically started my 8th summer at camp
  • Drove across the state repeatedly to go from school to work at camp
  • Wrote a bluntly honest letter to D, and got the nerve to mail it!
  • Finished up first year of grad school
  • Had heart to heart with D, decided that romantically we were done, but we were still very good friends
  • Solidified things with Scott
  • Two words, Swine Flu. :(
July
  • Continued dating Scott
  • Had two of our health staff up and quit with little notice
  • Gained a new health staff member, taking our total staff up to 9
  • Called four ambulances in a three day span, 3 in one night... on Jenn's birthday no less.
August
  • Got in to a huge fight with Jenn which resulted in me sobbing/screaming
  • Finally found time to get to the beach
  • Survived the summer from hell
September
  • Was sickenly lovey-dovey with Scott
  • Did a lot of volunteer work with my honor's fraternity
  • Started my second year of grad school
  • Got into a fight with D after he bragged about his new girlfriend to me, making me realize I wasn't 100% over it just yet
  • By the end of the month, things started unraveling between me and Scott
October
  • Played back and forth games with Scott
  • Did a lot of apartment hunting
  • Went to a prospective students day at U of Michigan, making me think even more about PhD programs

  • Officially broke up with Scott, heartbroken but a weight off my shoulders at the same time
  • Talked with my boss about a promotion, and got it :)
  • Moved in to our sweet new apartment
  • Had my first and hopefully last bit of out-patient surgery
  • Jenn re-asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding
  • Did Black Friday shopping for the first time in years and remembered exactly why I hate it
